The 17th May 2008 edition of John Aley's always-excellent MCC News of the Week carried this interesting snippet about the MCC Triple Award:

Barry Clarke has been doing some research looking at issues of the Light Car and Cycle Car from 1931. FLR Harris won a Triple in that year, with a solo on the Exeter, a Threewheeler Morgan on the Lands End, and an Anzani Frazer Nash on the Edinburgh. Harris, who was a motoring journalist, had recorded his achievement in a number of articles published in the magazine.

This has to be about the most difficult way to win a Triple, possibly only exceeded by using an outfit rather than a threewheeler. All of which begs the question, was his achievement unique or have others won Triples in similar circumstances? This is not something which is easy to look up in the records but I can recall several competitors (notably John Hayes) appearing successfully with a different number of wheels under them.

Does anyone know if Harris' achievement was unique?

I've also received the following in an email from Peter (Mr Troll) James:

It might be of interest to you to know that the current triple trophies are made by us!
