TopIntroduction

Austin Harris's truly wonderful website at www.austinharris.co.uk has quickly become by far the best source of early trials photographs on the internet. To explain what it's all about, I can do no better than quote Austin himself:

"This site started off as a small selection of photos from the archives at LAT Photo. I work for Haymarket Media, of whom LAT are part of. My job has nothing to do with the archive but having kindly been given permission to use the photos it is too tempting to not keep on searching! The archive contains about 12 million motoring images from the late 1800s to the present day so it may take me some time to get through them all... The images themselves come from a variety of sources, Autocar magazine, The Motor magazine, Motorsport magazine and Autosport magazine."

At present (May 2011) the published photographs are somewhat biased toward Austin Sevens, the 1920s, and speed events, but this bias is decreasing as more images are added. The photographs cover race meetings, hill climbs, speed events, and publicity photographs, in addition to an increasing number of trials photographs.

For a full listing of all the trials events with published photographs, see the Events page of the Austin Harris website.

Initially I planned to include all the trials photographs from the Austin Harris website on my Trials Photographs Database but this has become too daunting a task as the site already (May 2011) has over 400 trials-related photographs.

I am therefore going to concentrate first on cataloguing photographs of the more major events, or events which include photographs of particular interest. The links below will take you to the relevant page of Austin's site for events with photographs listed on my Trials Photographs Database.
